Tell us about your professional past and present?
I acquired a high standard of client service in the luxury hospitality industry before embracing my passion for helping others achieve their financial goals. I hold a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) and a Certified Health Insurance (CHS) designations, and I have had the opportunity to grow my skills as an Independent Advisor in a number of environments.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love being a part of a specialized team that supports me in offering value and high-quality advice to each of my clients.
Let’s talk about how this industry is evolving – what are some of the exciting shifts that you have encountered or have yet to in your career?
With the largest wealth transfer in financial history plus the most sweeping Canada tax changes in decades, there is a greater need for specialized, expert advice than ever.
I focus on supporting Business and Healthcare practitioners with effective planning solutions in risk management and income protection, as well as tax-efficient wealth creation, preservation and transfer.
What does ‘financial wellbeing’ look like to you?
Financial freedom means having flexibility in your choices and peace-of-mind granted by being financially independent.
What’s the best advice you’ve received in your career?
Don’t be a financial “Generalist” – be a “Specialist” and acquire the expertise needed to focus on servicing an exclusive client niche.
How do you Play?
I chose to live in British Columbia for the great outdoors, the mountains and the ocean. When not at the office, there is a good chance I am enjoying time sailing the coastal waters of B.C. – either competitively, or just cruising with my wife and daughter. I also volunteer my time with the local community, including initiatives like the Big Bike Event for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. & Yukon.
